Amazon Kindle Fire | The very first Kindle was released to the general public in November of 2007 and since that time it has become one of the most popular ereaders on the market.  Since the initial release Amazon has gone on to create other versions such as the Kindle 3G, Kindle touch and the Kindle DX.  Now Amazon has decided to venture into the world of PC tablets and color.

The Amazon Kindle Fire will be the latest release of the ever popular kindle on November 15, 2011.  The Kindle Fire could quite probably be the highest capability tablet PC on the market at its announced sub $200 price.  Yes there are tablets more capable, but very few if any at this low price.

The Amazon Kindle Fire is first and foremost a content consumption provider meeting that this iteration of the Kindle as its predecessors will function around providing as much content as possible from Amazon itself.  With over 18,000,000 movies, TV shows, books, magazines and songs you’ll have no lack of entertainment to choose from.  Oh and did we mention games, yes games too?

Kindle Fire at its heart is an Android tablet, although it is a heavily modified Android.  In addition it will offer up a dual core processor, 7 inch multi-touch display at 1024 x 600 resolution and 8 GB of on-board storage.  A couple of the interesting things Amazon is doing with this release is offering free storage on the Amazon cloud (AWS) and the addition of its new Silk browser which incorporates some interesting new technology, such as pushing content to the device based on similar searches that were previously made on the web.  This means that information will be available much more quickly on your own personal device.

When reading through the literature provided by Amazon it’s quite clear that they intend to take part of the market away from the iPad.  How much this will be nobody knows, but judging by the presales the Amazon Kindle Fire is going to be another Amazon hit.

As much as I like the “Fire” I wanted more
versatility. After a lot of hesitation and
investigation I decided that the Asus
Transformer was perfect for my own
    needs, whether for reading, gaming
or even as a “tablet pc.”.
