Viewsonic ViewPad 10e | Viewsonic has just released word about its latest Android tablet the Viewsonic ViewPad 10e.  Although no price is available for the tablet yet the specs have been released and we will delve into those a little more deeply here.  Since this is not a Google sanctioned android tablet though, the latest version of the Android operating system will not be available.  Viewsonic has installed a customized version of the Android Gingerbread release of the operating system on the Viewsonic ViewPad 10e with its own ViewScene 3D interface.

The Viewsonic ViewPad 10e will be released first in the United Kingdom with the United States to follow.  From the data sheet release by Viewsonic the following will be what the Viewsonic ViewPad 10e will be shipped with.

Viewsonic ViewPad 10e Specs.

  • The processor is a single core 1 GHz Cortex A8 Processor combined with 512 MB of DDR3 memory and 4 GB of on-board storage.
  • The screen is a 9.7 inch multi viewing angle IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.  The same as the iPad 2.
  • The Viewsonic ViewPad 10e is WiFi only, but does offer 802.11b, g, n connectivity, but when combined with a WiFi hotspot and data contract it will get you just about anywhere you want to be on the Internet.
  • Bluetooth 3.0 is also part of this tablet along with EDR capability.

  • External connections include a micro USB, mini HDMI had a 3.5 mm headset audio jack.
  • A G-sensor and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera are also part of the Viewsonic ViewPad 10e.

How the Viewsonic ViewPad 10e is received will be dependent mainly on the price that it is offered.  It’s nearly 10 inch size and advanced screen make an attractive machine, but the lack of a second camera, only a single core processor and an anemic 4 GB of on-board storage may give one pause before purchasing this Viewsonic Android tablet.
